The Dead Poets Salon and Open Mic
Thursday 26th October, 7.30pm. £5 on the door
As ever on the last Thursday of the month we shall be invoking the spirit of a dead poet by hearing their work, hearing something about their life and about their legacy. This month we will be invoking the spirit of Gerard Manley Hopkins, a towering figure in English poetry for his idiosyncratic sounding poetry which has influenced so many since. One in particular is Donal Dempsey who has had a relationship with Gerard and his poetry for most of his life and who will be be presenting this first part of our evening.
The second part of the evening, after we have refreshed our glasses, is an open mic where anyone present is welcome to read their own work, or to bring something they would like to share. We focus on poetry but their are occasional outbreaks of singing and guitar playing!
Let us know if you want to come as the room is intimate and often gets very full!
